Berget AI, SEI, and WattTime released an open-source framework to calculate the CO2 footprint of single AI requests based on regional grid intensity. The method enables real-time emissions tracking per request, highlighting regional disparities where a request in Texas can emit 8.5 times more CO2 than in Sweden.
