What we collect

Browsing HACKOBAR_ does not require an account. There is no login, no registration, and no user profiles.

We collect anonymous usage data via Cloudflare analytics (page views, country-level geography, browser type). We also use Microsoft Clarity for anonymized session analytics (scrolls, clicks, page interactions) to understand how the site is used — see Cookies below.

When you click an article, we record a click count on that article. To prevent duplicate counting, a short-lived hash derived from your IP address is kept for up to 24 hours and then discarded; it is never stored with the article data or used to identify you.

Email digest subscription

If you subscribe to the daily digest, we store your email address, your chosen lens (e.g. builder, researcher), your delivery frequency, and subscription timestamps. Subscription is double opt-in — you only receive the digest after confirming from your inbox.

Your email is used for one thing: sending you the digest you asked for. We do not sell, rent, or share the subscriber list. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link that takes effect immediately.

Digest emails are delivered through Resend, our email service provider, which processes your email address solely to deliver mail on our behalf.

To have your subscription data deleted entirely, unsubscribe or email us and we will remove the record.

Cookies and local storage

We use browser localStorage to remember your sort preference (top/new), your lens, and which articles you have read. This data never leaves your device.

Microsoft Clarity sets cookies to distinguish sessions for analytics. We do not use advertising cookies and do not run third-party advertising.

Third-party services

HACKOBAR_ is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Article content is sourced from public APIs and feeds (Hacker News, GitHub, arXiv, Reddit, HuggingFace, lab blogs, tech outlets, X, and AI newsletters). Service providers we use: Cloudflare (hosting and analytics), Microsoft Clarity (session analytics), Resend (email delivery), and Supabase (data storage). Beyond these processors, we do not share your data with any third party.

Social platforms

We publish a daily digest to Bluesky, Threads, and LinkedIn. These are public posts containing article titles and links. No user data from HACKOBAR_ is shared with these platforms.
