Phylogenetic Analysis of ELIZA Implementations Using Architectural Feature Matrices
October 12, 2026
This project uses biological parsimony software, PAUP*, to reconstruct the evolutionary lineage of ELIZA programs by comparing 13 binary architectural features across 27 specimens. Instead of text comparison, the method maps implementation details like backtracking matchers and memory mechanisms to identify structural descent.
