Evaluation of the AVeriTeC and ClaimReview2025Q4 benchmarks reveals that static multimodal fact-checking datasets often rely on internal LLM knowledge rather than external evidence. This contamination inflates performance metrics and fails to test true reasoning capabilities on novel, real-world claims.
