Mitigating Gender Bias in English to Romanian Machine Translation

A hybrid pipeline mitigates gender bias in English-to-Romanian translation by combining LLM-based gender classification with neural machine translation. The method uses a fine-tuned LLM to insert inline gender hint tags into English source text, which a specialized Transformer model then uses to generate morphologically accurate Romanian outputs.
