Behavioral Persistence and Incomplete Functional Transfer of Co-evolved Communication in Evolutionary Robotics

Transferring a co-evolved communication protocol from 2D simulation to 3D physical e-puck robots via GRU networks with residual connections results in incomplete functional transfer. Despite applying three sensory-motor corrections, including hunger term calibration, only one of thirty tested seeds achieved the food-seeking task.
