A new MT approach for Tok Pisin, Bislama, and Solomon Pijin uses LLM-assisted respelling, back-translation, and Gemini distillation to improve performance. The method achieves a 3+ chrF++ improvement over open model baselines on domain-balanced and spoken language datasets.
