Constrained Substrates Improve Coding Agent Backdoor Detection Recall to 90.9%

Applying traditional engineering constraints like access control and coding conventions to coding agents improves scalable oversight. In experiments, a Gemma 4 e4b reviewer detecting Python backdoors saw recall rise from 54.5% to 90.9% when using a constrained substrate and a 200-LoC CLI tool.
