Decoupling Self-Preference from Stylistic Bias in LLM Judges

An analysis of LLM judges using narrative constraint selections shows that self-preference is often confounded by stylistic features. Under blind evaluation with controlled selection quality and severity, self-preference largely disappears across three of four rubric dimensions.
