RL-Based Production Scheduling Using Digital Model Playground Simulation

This research applies Deep Q-Networks and Proximal Policy Optimization to industrial coating processes featuring sequence-dependent setup times and machine breakdowns. Using the open-source Digital Model Playground, the study benchmarks RL agents against standard dispatching rules in complex manufacturing environments.
