Quantization Increases Open-Ended Stereotyping in LLMs

Quantizing LLMs increases bias in open-ended responses by approximately 24% to 27% across eight languages. While quantized models pass standard multiple-choice safety benchmarks, they disproportionately volunteer stereotypes when generating free-form text.
