Training-Free Human Activity Recognition Fails to Match Supervised Performance
September 30, 2026
The Jev probabilistic model fails to replace supervised Human Activity Recognition (HAR) models, achieving macro-F1 scores as low as 0.038 on WISDM, UCI341, and PAMAP2 datasets. Even with optimized sensor representations, the zero-shot approach remains significantly below supervised benchmarks which range from 0.686 to 0.907.
HOW THIS AFFECTS YOU

researcherYou should not rely on training-free probabilistic models for sensor-based activity recognition if high F1 scores are required.
