High GPU Usage Does Not Correlate with NLP Paper Citations

Analysis of 13,921 NLP conference papers from 2020–2025 shows that while the top 20% of papers consume up to 89.9% of reported GPU capacity, they only account for 27%–32% of citations. Resource concentration significantly exceeds scholarly impact.
