GPT-2 Surprisal Used to Map Language Development in Children

A new method uses GPT-2 token surprisal across temporal adverbial diagnostics to automatically label telicity in CHILDES corpora. This approach allows researchers to compare the computational trajectories of child-directed speech versus actual child speech using diagnostic logistic regression.
