Improving Multimodal RAG with Visual Token Density

Research shows that increasing visual token budgets from 1K to 32K improves multimodal RAG accuracy by 15.22 points on SciEGQA. The study concludes that VLM performance is heavily constrained by visual evidence resolution and token capacity rather than just retrieval quality.
