Detecting and Releasing Suppressed Latent Causal Structures

Researchers demonstrated a pipeline to detect and release latent task-relevant structures in a 25.7M transformer. Interventions at mid-layer observation-evidence channels achieved paired release advantages of up to 0.854, successfully restoring suppressed behaviors.
