Classical Models Outperform Frozen LLMs at Small Training Set Sizes

A benchmark across 18 tabular datasets shows that trained classical models overtake frozen LLMs at a specific labeled-data crossover point, N*. Even with optimal prompting, LLMs struggle to compete with the learning curves of traditional model families as small amounts of data are collected.
