HIRA: A Human-in-the-Loop Retrieval-Augmented Cascade for Document Classification in Regulated Industries

HIRA implements a training-free, on-premises retrieval-augmented cascade for regulated document classification. It uses weighted reciprocal-rank fusion across BM25, dense embeddings, and image-level representations, routing uncertain cases to a local LLM verifier or human reviewer. Corrections update a Dirichlet-smoothed confusion graph and margin-weighted exemplars to improve performance without retraining model weights.
