From Research Goals to Scientific Closure: Evaluating Agents Through Evidence-Supported Physics Research

PhysClosureBench introduces a benchmark of 50 expert-verified physics research tasks to evaluate how agents organize investigations and validate evidence. Using a 20-criterion Atomic Score and a Research Closure scale (RC0–RC4), tests show Claude-Opus-5 leads with a 6.29/10 mean Atomic Score but reaches full RC4 closure in only 32.7% of trials.
