GRPO and ORPO Improve SLM Performance for Biomedical Text Generation

Small Language Models (SLMs) aligned via GRPO and ORPO outperform GPT-5 on specialized medication leaflet generation tasks. Experiments on Qwen-based models demonstrate that GRPO provides the most robust cross-dataset generalizability when translating complex biomedical data into patient-friendly narratives.
