Temperature Settings Link LLM Hallucinations to Intelligence Tests

An investigation into LLM hallucinations reveals that higher temperature settings increase both creativity and the likelihood of plausible but incorrect answers. The study suggests that the same sampling parameters used to pass behavioral intelligence tests also drive the production of 'electric fata morganas' or hallucinations.
