Lightweight Backchannel Head for Full-Duplex Spoken Dialogue Models

A new backchannel head predicts optimal timing for brief acknowledgments like 'uh-huh' using a model's own hidden states. Tested on 1B and 7B parameter models, the approach uses a tunable threshold to trigger force-decoding, achieving human-like timing in natural conversation.
