Embedding-based analysis of topic drift in 12.7B Reddit comments

A new methodology uses contextualized semantic embeddings to quantify topic drift across 12.7 billion Reddit comments from 2006 to 2022. The approach enables large-scale detection of discourse evolution and reveals that socially contentious topics exhibit significant directional drift in embedding space.
