Theoretical Limits of Passive Image Provenance via Pixel Analysis

This research establishes the minimax limits for verifying image origins using only pixel data under adversarial edits. The study proves that the maximum robust target-acceptance gap is determined by the total-variation distance between target and attacked source distributions, independent of verifier architecture.
