Researchers propose an open-weight-LLM QA protocol for sign language translation that replaces BLEU-4 to better measure content preservation. The new metric is six to seven times more paraphrase-invariant than BLEU-4 and aligns more closely with human rankings on Phoenix-2014T and CSL-Daily datasets.
