Month later, qubic still reads to me like an unresolved compute-access experiment

May 7, 2026
Qubic, a distributed compute network, demonstrates measurable progress on heterogeneous hardware coordination, with operator participation and throughput metrics publicly tracked via doge-stats.qubic.org. However, the critical unresolved question is useful-work quality: routing incentivized compute toward tasks is architecturally distinct from routing it toward verifiably significant outputs. No rigorous third-party evaluation of computational output quality has emerged. ML engineers evaluating decentralized compute alternatives should withhold judgment until external benchmarks validate task significance, not just network coordination efficiency.
