EU AI Act requires TEXT from models and providers to be watermarked 2nd August onwards. Everyone here is affected, regardless where you live.

The EU AI Act mandates that text outputs from general-purpose AI models classified as systemic risk must be machine-detectable as AI-generated via two technical layers, effective August 2025, with fines up to 32 million euros. Models like Qwen 3, DeepSeek, and similar large GPAI systems fall under this requirement regardless of where their providers are based. Simple smaller models may qualify for exemptions, but the compliance burden for watermarking text via statistical methods or cryptographic metadata tagging falls on any provider whose outputs reach EU users.
