The people who actually want AI to replace humanity

A subculture called "AI successionists" — including attendees from Anthropic, Google DeepMind, xAI, and US policy think tanks — argues that AI should replace humanity as a moral superior, rejecting alignment with human values entirely. The central argument is that classical humanism lacks a framework for deciding which technological changes to accept, leaving practitioners without principled grounds to counter successionist logic beyond appeals to human self-interest.
