Our Continuation of MkDocs

ProperDocs has launched as a community-maintained fork of MkDocs, installable today via pip install properdocs as a drop-in replacement requiring only a single dependency swap. The fork was necessitated by MkDocs original maintainer's plan to publish an incompatible MkDocs 2.0 that breaks all existing themes and plugins without migration paths. Documentation teams running MkDocs-based pipelines face silent breakage risk on any pip install mkdocs update; switching to ProperDocs eliminates that exposure immediately. Plugin authors need zero changes since existing mkdocs-prefixed packages remain fully compatible.
