HydraHead Hybridizes Full and Linear Attention at Head Level, Not Layer Level

Rather than swapping entire layers between full and linear attention, HydraHead fuses FA and LA within individual attention heads, exploiting observed head-level functional specialization within shared-input layers. Interpretability analysis shows layers cluster into functionally similar blocks while heads within a layer diverge, motivating head-axis hybridization as a more principled design for long-context efficiency.
